CFL admits it blew call on Travis Lulay hit

The CFL has acknowledged it missed a spearing call on B.C. Lions quarterback Travis Lulay in Friday’s game against the Ottawa Redblacks.

CFL director of officiating Darren Hackwood has also confirmed that the hit from Ottawa’s J.R, Tavai is being reviewed for supplemental discipline. The news was first reported by TSN.

Early in the second quarter of Friday’s game, Lulay took a wicked shot from Tavai, his head snapping back and he fell to the turf. Tavai leads with the crown of his helmet, which is the first thing to make contact with Lulay’s chin.
