Quarterback Travis Lulay to start for B.C. Lions against Bombers

Veteran quarterback Travis Lulay will start Saturday against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, less than a year after tearing his ACL.

The move means that Jonathon Jennings, has been benched, at least for now. Jennings has struggled to begin the season, managing just 487 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions in three games and was 15-for-24 passing for 105 yards in a loss to Winnipeg last week.

With the Lions at 1-2, last place in the West Division, there was pressure on B.C. to start the 34-year-old Lulay who suffered a season-ending ACL injury last September against the Montreal Alouettes. After Lulay was hurt last year, Jennings went 1-6 as a starter. He’s played 10 seasons for B.C., passing for 18,858 yards, 114 touchdowns against 64 interceptions with a 63.9 completion rate and 94.2 QB rating.

The Lions also made a couple of other interesting roster moves: defensive back Marcell Young, who has also struggled for much of the season, has been replaced by Winston Rose in the starting line up and receiver Kevin Elliott will make his B.C. debut.
