Argos QB Ricky Ray expected to miss the rest of the 2018 season: sources

Toronto Argonauts quarterback Ricky Ray is expected to miss the rest of the 2018 CFL season after suffering a neck injury against the Calgary Stampeders, according to multiple sources.

Ray has been told no contact for several months.

During the third quarter of the Argos home opener, Ray was chased down from behind by Stamps defensive lineman Ja’Gared Davis, tackled and made contact with Cordarro Law as well, immediately reaching for his helmet. Ray laid on the turf for over 10 minutes as medical personnel isolated his neck, put him on a board and loaded him onto a cart. He spent two nights at Toronto Western Hospital undergoing tests and left on Monday with a brace on his neck.

The 38-year-old passed for 233 yards and one interception in Toronto’s Week 1 loss to Saskatchewan. Ray was 12-of-17 for 74 yards after exiting the game against Calgary.
