Riders add former NFL RB David Cobb

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed former NFL running back David Cobb.

Cobb was a fifth-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans. He played in seven games, starting one, rushing 52 times for 146 yards and one touchdown. Cobb was released after training camp among final cuts in 2016. Then Cobb spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Chicago Bears in 2016 and 2017.

“Our guys went and saw him [in The Spring League]. We started looking at a little film. He came to one of our last workouts that we had. He’s a 230-pound guy. He’s been in the NFL so he knows the rigours,” head coach Chris Jones said.

Cobb joins Zac Stacy, Tre Mason and Trent Richardson, who is on the suspended list, as running backs with NFL experience currently on the roster.
