Bombers paid Durant $70K in bonuses, want it back: reports

The Blue Bombers have paid quarterback Darian Durant $70,000 in bonus money since signing him in January according to reports coming out of Winnipeg

And the Bombers would like their money back.

Beyond not formally informing the Blue Bombers he was retiring, the organization isn't pleased with how Darian Durant has gone about his business.

Durant received a $70,000 signing bonus.

Durant signed with the Bombers in January, just days after being released by Montreal. The Alouettes reportedly let Durant go just hours before he was due a $150,000 roster bonus as a part of the three-year deal he signed before the 2017 season.

Durant was set to be the primary back up behind Matt Nichols this season and his departure, which reportedly caught the Bombers by surprise, leaves the team with very little experience behind their starter. Alex Ross, who appeared in four CFL games for the B.C. Lions, completing five of 12 passes for 82 yards last season, would likely be the guy.

The $70,000 will also count against the Bombers salary cap.
