CFL won’t consider one-year deal for Johnny Manziel: report

So when we did the story on the Mike Florio report that the league might consider giving quarterback Johnny Manziel a one-year deal, we reached out to the CFL for comment and/or clarification on their position.

Four days later we’re still waiting but we would appear to have their answer.

TSN’s Dave Naylor Tweeted today, citing “a league source” that the CFL won’t consider a special deal for Manziel.

Manziel is on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats negotiation list and CFL entry-level deals are, of course, two years but according to Florio’s source Manziel is still considering the fledgeling Alliance of American Football because the “CFL continues to refuse to relent on its requirement that Manziel commit for two seasons.”

It would appear they are holding firm to that requirement.
