Lions draft pick, FB David Mackie accepts invite to Giants rookie mini-camp

Canadian fullback David Mackie has accepted a rookie mini-camp invite from the New York Giants.

Mackie was selected in the second round, 16th overall in the 2018 CFL draft.

He was a first-team OUA all-star last year for Western University as the Mustangs rushed for a USports-leading 2,479 yards in 2017 (averaging over 309 yards per game and 7.6 yards per carry) on the way to a perfect 12-0 during a dominating Vanier Cup championship season.

Mackie was a key part of that powerful ground game as a punishing blocker. He ran the ball three times for 13 yards and made 20 receptions for 261 yards and one touchdown during his university career while serving as the Mustangs long snapper, which he does at a high level.

Giants rookie mini-camp runs from May 10-13.
