Duron Carter’s Saskatoon pot case delayed again

Duron Carter’s Saskatchewan marijuana court case has been delayed – again – according to the Regina Leader-Post.

The Roughriders receiver was not in a Saskatoon courtroom on Thursday but was instead represented by lawyer Louis Mercer, who called from Regina. This is the second time the case has been delayed, this time until May 3 – just over two weeks before training camps are set to begin across the CFL.

Carter was charged on Feb. 1 after security officers at the Saskatoon airport found marijuana in Carter’s bag following a search. Carter was also found with marijuana at the Winnipeg airport last November – possibly pot cookies – and is due to appear in Manitoba provincial court on April 9.

It’s been reported that Carter is unlikely to face supplementary discipline from either the CFL or the Riders and CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie has said the CFL would have to re-examine its approach to marijuana in the wake of legalization legislation set to pass this summer.
