The Eskimos released defensive back Marcell Young on Wednesday.
Young had inked a contract extension through the 2019 season in February 2017, but he played just seven games in 2017 missing 11 due to injury, which likely led to being cut.
Young moved from Hamilton to Edmonton when he signed as a free agent in February 2013. The 30-year-old played five seasons with the Eskimos making 199 tackles and three interceptions in 74 games. He was on the Eskimos 2015 Grey Cup championship team.
Young began his CFL career in Hamilton where he played for two seasons recording 63 tackles and three interceptions in 23 games.
