Duron Carter’s lawyer phones it in on Saskatoon marijuana charge: report

Duron Carter was not present in Saskatoon for his court date on Tuesday regarding a marijuana possession charge in the city’s airport.

Neither was his lawyer.

But the next meeting time for the case was scheduled for April 5, according to multiple reports.

The Riders receiver is facing two separate marijuana possessions charges, both stemming from incidents in Western Canadian airports. Carter was also found with marijuana at the Winnipeg airport last November. For that charge, Carter’s next date in Manitoba provincial court is April 9.

It was reported last week that Carter is unlikely to face supplementary discipline from either the CFL or the Riders and that the Winnipeg charge may involve… pot cookies. CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie also said the CFL would have to re-examine its approach to marijuana in the wake of legalization legislation set to pass this summer.
