Bombers QB Dan LeFevour set to retire from football

Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback Dan LeFevour is retiring, per sources.

The 30-year-old LeFevour, who was set to become a free agent in February, has elected to begin his post-football career in lieu of seeking another contract.

LeFevour played five CFL seasons for four different teams, breaking into the league with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2013. He came back from two significant injuries – a torn ACL with the Ticats in 2014 and a dislocated shoulder in 2015 in his first game with the Montreal Alouettes. He signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the NFL in April 2016, then joined the Toronto Argonauts after being released in August.

LeFevour signed with the Winnipeg as a free agent last February and appeared in all 18 games, making one start, a Week 20 win over Calgary in which he threw for 91 yards in a Bomber win. Used primarily in short-yardage, LeFevour carried the ball 46 times for 142 yards and six touchdowns last season.

For his career, LeFevour appeared in 72 CFL games, making eight starts going 3-5. He finishes with 2,620 passing, 11 TDs and 14 interceptions.

LeFevour had a stellar career at Central Michigan, leading them to three MAC titles in four seasons and becoming the only player in NCAA history with more than 12,000 passing yards and 2,500 rushing yards.
