Bombers release quarterback Dominique Davis

Less than two weeks after signing Darian Durant to back up starting quarterback Matt Nichols, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers have released pivot Dominique Davis.

The 28-year-old spent three seasons in Winnipeg but saw limited action, appearing in 47 games but making just one start. He has thrown for 377 yards on 33 of 54 passing in his career while also carrying the ball 16 times for 66 yards.

Durant agreed to a one-year contract on Jan. 20. The 35-year-old spent 11 seasons with the Riders, winning two CFL championships – including the 2013 Grey Cup, held in Regina – and finished with a 58-54 record in 113 starts. He was a West Division all-star in 2009 and 2013.
