Montreal is closing in on signing quarterback Josh Freeman, according to RDS reporter Didier Ormejuste.

The Als added Freeman to their negotiation list earlier this week. The last game Freeman played in was for the Indianapolis Colts on January 3, 2016. He completed 15 of 28 passes for 149 yards, one touchdown and one interception, adding eight carries for 24 yards in a 30-24 victory.
The Kansas State product was a first-round pick, 17th overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2009. He started 61 games over seven seasons with three different teams, compiling 81 touchdowns, 68 interceptions, 13,873 yards and a 77.6 quarterback rating. His last start came in January 2016 with the Indianapolis Colts and he was out of pro football completely last season.
Freeman’s first foray into Canadian football was attending Calgary Stampeders mini-camp from April 29 to May 1, but he was not offered a contract by the Stamps.
The Redblacks added Freeman to their negotiation list on Saturday, June 17, 2017, but he was later dropped by Ottawa.
That happened after the 29-year-old worked out for Montreal and he was spotted at the Alouettes final pre-season game. last year The move was a clear attempt by the Redblacks to keep Freeman from signing in Montreal.
But time has won out on the Alouettes side.
