Kent Austin: couple other teams also involved in Zach Collaros trade discussions

The Saskatchewan Roughriders weren’t the only team in the mix for quarterback Zach Collaros.

“There are a couple other teams that were also involved,” Ticats vice-president of football operations Kent Austin said on TSN Hamilton 1150. “It came together in the last 24-48 hours, it’s been in the works for a while. It just worked out that the best scenario for both parties was Saskatchewan.

“Other things that are taking shape at this point are also part of this whole scenario. As teams started to inquire and things started to heat up, then it was something we needed to look at to improve our football team.”

What Austin is likely referring to is the team finalizing extensions for quarterback Jeremiah Masoli and Brandon Banks.

The Ticats got a second-round pick in the 2018 CFL draft for Collaros.
