Conditions were not ideal, but the chance to do something epic was there (think Prince shredding in the rain during the greatest Super Bowl halftime show ever back in 2007). Instead, we got one of the most lacklustre Grey Cup halftime shows in recent memory.
It started fantastically, with Shania being led to the stage on a dogsled, but after that, it was a fairly boring show.
Shania sang a three-song medley of her hits (well, her hits and one new song) and basically stood their and sang. I expected her to move around a little more, show a little enthusiasm and put on a show. She did none of that.
Perhaps the weather played a role, the snow was a-falling and Shania looked uncomfortable and scared she might slip and fall. But imagine her going full tilt and putting on an amazing show in these conditions. It would have gone down in lore as one of the greatest ever. Sadly, it never reached beyond the bare minimum.
I was a huge proponent of Shania being given the gig and hoped she would put on a great show. Unfortunately, I was wrong and we were treated to a very dull, very average halftime show.
Sorry, Shania, but that didn’t impress me much.
