The CFL trade deadline was dead

The Canadian Football League trade deadline came and went on Wednesday at 4 p.m. eastern time with no deals made.

There was some speculation that Montreal would be sellers after being eliminated from playoff contention on Thanksgiving Monday, but the Alouettes stood pat and general manager Kavis Reed made it clear he was not going to move defensive end, John Bowman.

Zach Collaros was the other big name who has been the subject of trade speculation, but Ticats head coach June Jones said on Tuesday Hamilton would not be moving their high-priced quarterback.

Saskatchewan had made trades the last two years at the deadline, getting Canadian defensive back Andrew Lue in 2016 and sending running back Jerome Messam to Calgary for kicker Tyler Crapigna, but that streak stopped.

Potential Grey Cup contenders opted to continue with their rosters as currently constructed.
