What the Riders will pay Trent Richardson

Saskatchewan signed running back Trent Richardson to a two-year deal (one plus a team option), per sources.

The 27-year-old back will make a pro-rated $67,500 in “hard” money for 2017 and the same number for 2018. If the Alabama alum hit every incentive in his contract he would make $80,000.

There was no signing bonus included as is the case with most American players who have not played a down in the CFL. It’s a standard rookie deal for an athlete who has NFL experience.

After Richardson was selected third overall in the 2012 NFL draft by Cleveland he inked a four-year, $20.4 million pact that was fully guaranteed with a $13.3 million signing bonus.

Richardson was added to Saskatchewan’s negotiation list on July 28 and the signing might be ideal timing for the Riders.
