DL Alex Bazzie accepts contract with Lions

Defensive end Alex Bazzie has accepted a contract offer from the B.C. Lions, per 3DownNation’s Lowell Ullrich.

Saskatchewan made a strong push for the 27-year-old pass rusher, but he opted to return to the Left coast.

Bazzie bounced from the Colts to the Panthers and then signed with the Arizona Cardinals where he attended training camp with the team, but he was released among the final roster cuts.

Bazzie notched a career-high 11 sacks and 31 tackles to go with a forced fumble in 2016 for BC and he was named a West Division all-star. He’s posted 29 sacks in 50 career CFL games, all with the Lions.

The six-foot-one, 228-pound Marshall product has found a way to consistently rush and disrupt the quarterback in the CFL, which should help a B.C. unit that’s recorded only 18 sacks this season, second last in the CFL.
