Montreal was hot after Riders Canadian receiver Rob Bagg, according to Saskatchewan radio play-by-play man Rod Pedersen.
Pedersen wrote: “the Alouettes badly wanted to acquire Rob Bagg but the Riders refused to part with the coveted vet” as part of the deal for quarterback Vernon Adams. The trade had been discussed for months and eventually came to fruition Tuesday when the Roughriders sent Canuck defensive back Tevaughn Campbell plus two third round picks to the Alouettes for Adams and a fifth round draft choice.
Adams gives Saskatchewan a young option as the team tries to find its quarterback of the future where Montreal had a surplus at the pivot position.
