Alouettes agree to terms with Canadian receiver

Stephen Adekolu has agreed to terms with the Montreal Alouettes, per sources.

The 28-year-old pass catcher touched down in La Belle Province Tuesday, met with the coaching staff and got his playbook.

He was recently released by the B.C. Lions where he spent the first three-plus seasons of his pro career. Adekolu suited up for 42 games making three receptions for 42 yards while seeing time on special teams, but he has yet to play in 2017.

Originally, Adekolu caught the eyes of pro talent evaluators at Duane Forde’s National Invitational Combine in 2013. That led to him performing at the CFL combine. He went back to Bishop’s University for his final year of eligibility in 2013 and signed with B.C. in February of 2014.

Adekolu joins national receivers George Johnson, Alex Pierzchalski, Seydou Junior Haidara on the roster and Samuel Giguere, on the six-game injured list, while Alex Carroll is out for the season.

The six-foot-four, 200-pounder brings a big frame and experience to the core.
