Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Questionable lateral call costs Ticats seven points

With Hamilton trailing 12-6, starting a drive on their own 35-yard line late in the second quarter, quarterback Zach Collaros pitched a ball to running back C.J. Gable.

Gable couldn’t bring the ball in, defensive lineman Jake Thomas got on the loose ball for Winnipeg as it was ruled a lateral and fumble recovery by the on-field officials.

As is the rule, all turnovers are reviewed in the CFL.

Video review officials looked at the play and upheld the play, even though it appeared the ball was moving forward as Collaros tossed it to Gable. That led to a Julian Feoli Gudino Bombers touchdown and a 19-6 halftime lead for Winnipeg.
