Argonauts release veteran Canadian Matt Black

The Toronto Argonauts released veteran players Matt Black and Devon Wylie on Tuesday.

Both players were on Toronto’s six-game injured list.

Black, a five-foot-nine, 192-pound defensive back, was in his ninth CFL season with the Argos. The 32-year-old Toronto native had 44 tackles, 10 special-teams tackles and an interception last year, starting 12 of the Argos 18 regular-season games.

Toronto selected Black in the sixth round, No. 45 overall, in the 2008 CFL draft but he returned to Saginaw Valley that fall for his final year of college eligibility.

Wylie, a five-foot-nine, 197-pound receiver, was in his second season with Toronto. He had 14 catches for 166 yards and a TD in 13 regular-season contests last year.
