Former first round pick, receiver Devon Bailey in Regina, expected to join Riders

Canadian receiver Devon Bailey is in Regina and he’s expected to come to terms and sign with the Riders, per sources.

The 25-year-old has been a free agent since he was let go by Montreal among final cuts after training camp. Bailey was a first-round pick, sixth overall in the 2014 CFL draft. He spent three seasons in Edmonton playing in 39 games making 33 receptions for 469 yards and two touchdowns.

Bailey played university football at St. Francis Xavier and recorded 87 receptions for 1,160 yards and six touchdowns from 2010-2013.

Rob Bagg, Nic Demski, Albert Awachie and Denzel Radford are national receivers currently on the Riders roster.

Bailey could add impressive size – six-foot-five – to the group. He’s got all of the tools and athleticism required to excel at the CFL level, but that potential needs to be realized.
