Record 50/50 pot at new Mosaic Stadium opener

Even though the Riders lost their stadium opener on Saturday, one green and white fan went home with a smile on his face.

Darren Schnell, from Airdrie, Alberta, had the winning 50/50 ticket and earned half of the $554,000 pot, $277,000. That amount is believed to be a record for a Riders home game, totaling more than the $504,000 and change at the 2013 Grey Cup in Regina.

Schnell appears to be wearing a No. 7 Weston Dressler Riders jersey, which is appropriate considering the veteran receiver racked up 124 yards and two touchdowns in the victory for Winnipeg.
