Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Sergio Castillo has won the Ticats kicking job

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats will roll with American kicker Sergio Castillo for their week one matchup against the Toronto Argonauts, per CFL sources.

The team has released international Anthony Fera, who was brought in last week to compete with Castillo.

The 26-year-old Castillo was one of seven kickers who attended the attended the team’s mini-camp in April, then beat out Ryan Hawkins, Craig Peterson and finally Fera to win the job. After their first pre-season game, Hamilton reportedly took a run at Brett Maher, who was the team’s kicker last season, but he signed with the Ottawa Redblacks.
