Riders deal offensive lineman Matt Vonk to Alouettes

The Roughriders and Alouettes announced Wednesday that the teams agreed on a trade which sent national receiver/defensive back Denzel Radford to Saskatchewan in exchange for national offensive lineman Matt Vonk.  

Radford was a sixth round, 48th overall pick by the Montreal Alouettes in the 2017 CFL Draft.

The 23-year-old University of Calgary product played in 18 conference games while with the Dinos, as both a pass catcher and cover man. 

Vonk, who was drafted in the third round, 38th overall in the 2013 CFL draft, played three seasons for the Riders. Last year, the University of Waterloo alum played 11 games with Saskatchewan, making six starts. The 26-year-old has played 27 career games in the CFL.

Alouettes general manager Kavis Reed lost Canadian offensive lineman Jake Piotrowski to retirement last week and Vonk helps fill that void.

Saskatchewan also announced that national offensive lineman Marc Glaude, eighth round, 64th overall pick in the 2017 CFL draft, retired after suffering a concussion during training camp.
