New Riders QB broke Darian Durant’s records at UNC

Saskatchewan announced the signing of quarterback Marquise Williams on Wednesday.

The University of North Carolina product broke a couple of former Riders and current Alouettes quarterback, Darian Durant’s records with the Tar Heels, total offensive yards (10,423 to 9,630) and total touchdowns (96 to 79).

Williams was on the Alouettes negotiation list for a while when Jim Popp was the general manager in Montreal. He was subsequently dropped off when Kavis Reed become the GM for the Alouettes. Calgary added the 24-year-old to their neg list on December 29, 2016. Williams went to Stampeders mini-camp in May and he was cut afterwards.
