Tony Romo was once on Stampeders’ negotiation list

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was on the Calgary Stampeders negotiation list for a time in 2003, per PostMedia’s Scott Mitchell.

The Eastern Illinois product went unselected in the 2003 NFL draft, but shortly after he signed a free agent contract with Dallas where he spent 14 seasons with the Cowboys throwing for 34, 183 yards, 248 touchdowns, 117 interceptions, 65.3 completion rate and 97.1 QB rating, while being named to the Pro Bowl four times.

Romo recently stepped away from football to accept a colour analyst job with CBS Sports.
