The 23-year-old previously played at Colorado State University, where he made 68 total tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, three pass knockdowns, two forced fumbles, and one interception over 17 games. He was originally slated to be in the 2027 NFL Draft, but lost his final season of eligibility due to a post-graduate year spent at a U.S. prep school.

The six-foot-three, 239-pound defender ran a 4.92-second forty-yard dash at his pro day, though he was timed as fast as 4.80 by at least one scout. He also recorded a 4.62-second shuttle, 7.26-second three-cone drill, 17 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press, a 31-inch vertical jump, and a nine-foot, ten-inch broad jump.

NFL rookie mini-camps give unsigned prospects the opportunity to compete against draft picks and undrafted free agent signees in an organized team setting. Canadians have translated invitations into NFL contracts in the past, most recently Wilfrid Laurier University quarterback Taylor Elgersma with the Green Bay Packers in 2025.

Gatkuoth sits as the 12th-ranked prospect in the 2026 CFL Draft and is a projected first-round pick. His stock is not expected to be significantly affected by his NFL opportunity, but that could change if he earns a contract south of the border.

The 2026 CFL Draft is scheduled for Tuesday, April 28, at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
