Canadian running back Anthony Woodson signs with Calgary

The Calgary Stampeders have signed Canadian running back Anthony Woodson to a one-year contract, per sources.

The 29-year-old has played the last two seasons in Hamilton and appeared in 55 games during his six-year career with Winnipeg, Toronto and Hamilton. Woodson was a fourth round pick, 29th overall by the Bombers in 2010. He has amassed 58 carries and 16 catches for 351 combined yards and one touchdown. The six–foot, 215-pounder is also a solid contributor on special teams.

A Calgary native, Woodson also played his university football for the University of Calgary Dinos. He’ll provide in-game insurance for Jerome Messam, Calgary’s national running back and the league’s Most Outstanding Canadian last season.
