All-star defensive tackle Micah Johnson agrees to extension with Stampeders

2016 all-star defensive tackle Micah Johnson has agreed to terms on a two-year extension with the Calgary Stampeders, per sources.

That keeps yet another one of the Stamps key pieces from hitting the free agent market.

The 28-year-old had 36 tackles, seven sacks and two forced fumbles in 17 games which earned him 2016 CFL all-star honours. Johnson has played four seasons in Calgary and in 46 games with the Stamps he has 96 defensive tackles, 18 sacks and one interception.

The University of Kentucky product joins offensive lineman Pierre Lavertu, defensive ends Charleston Hughes and Cordarro Law as well as kicker Rene Paredes and punter Rob Maver among others in extending with the club.
