Hamilton Tiger-Cats sign former Riders left tackle Trevor Reid after NFL stint

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have signed American offensive lineman Trevor Reid to a two-year contract.

The 25-year-old started all 18 regular-season games for Saskatchewan at left tackle in 2024, his first in the CFL. He helped the Roughriders finish second in the West Division with a 9-8-1 record as part of an offensive line that allowed 35 sacks, which ranked fourth-best league-wide.

Reid signed a reserve futures contract with the Minnesota Vikings in January 2025 after being released by the Riders to pursue NFL opportunities. He was waived by the Vikings on April 22 with a non-football injury designation and has been a free agent ever since.

The Riders retained Reid’s CFL rights through to February 10, which would have been the end of his rookie contract. He was recently drafted into the UFL, but has elected to return north instead.

The six-foot-five, 307-pound Reid finished his collegiate career at the University of Louisville, where he was a two-year starter at left tackle. He went unselected in the 2023 NFL Draft, but had stints with the Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons, though he didn’t see any regular-season action with either team.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats finished first in the East Division standings in 2025 with an 11-7 record, though the team lost the East Final to the Montreal Alouettes. Bo Levi Mitchell led the CFL with 5,296 passing yards, 36 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions after starting all 18 regular-season games, earning the East Division’s nomination for Most Outstanding Player.

The Tiger-Cats ranked third in net offence, eighth in net defence, and first with a turnover differential of plus-ten. The club’s leading rusher was Greg Bell with 1,038 yards, leading receiver was Kenny Lawler with 1,443 yards, and leading tackler was Stavros Katsantonis with 69 tackles. Hamilton ranked fourth in attendance with average crowds of 22,858, which was a 3.9 percent increase from the previous year.
