The Calgary Stampeders have signed American receiver Erik Brooks to a two-year contract extension, tying him to the team through 2027. He was a pending free agent.
The five-foot-seven, 178-pound target caught 51 passes for 824 yards and two touchdowns over 18 regular-season games in 2025, making 14 starts. He also rushed twice for nine yards, returned 31 kickoffs for 665 yards, and returned 33 punts for 335 yards and a touchdown, and returned two missed field goals for 20 yards.
The 26-year-old also contributed during Calgary’s loss to the B.C. Lions in the West Semi-Final, making three catches for 27 yards, returning five kickoffs for 117 yards, and returning five punts for 34 yards.
The native of Irvine, Calif. signed with the Stampeders as a free agent in 2024. He recorded 633 all-purpose yards as a rookie, including 287 on kickoff returns, 166 on punt returns, 127 on missed-field goal returns, and 53 as a receiver.
Brooks played collegiately at Fresno State, where he caught 128 passes for 1,548 yards and 10 touchdowns, returned 20 punts for 172 yards, and returned one kickoff for 35 yards. He was named an All-Mountain West Conference honourable mention in 2023.
The Calgary Stampeders finished third in the West Division standings in 2025 with an 11-7 record but lost the West Semi-Final to the B.C. Lions. Vernon Adams Jr. threw for 4,247 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions over 17 regular-season starts, posting a 11-6 record as the team’s starting quarterback.
The Stampeders ranked fourth in net offence, seventh in net defence, and second with a turnover differential of plus-nine. Dedrick Mills won the CFL’s rushing title with 1,409 yards, while the team’s leading receiver was Dominique Rhymes with 886 yards, and leading tackler was Jacob Roberts with 102 tackles. Calgary finished fifth in attendance with average crowds of 22,295, which was a 3.5 percent increase from the previous year.
