Calgary’s Tommie Campbell accused of selling crack out of his mom’s house

Calgary Stampeders defensive back Tommie Campbell is facing numerous drug charges in his hometown of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania after turning himself into police on Tuesday.

According to the lead story on WPXI news, police say Campbell was selling drugs out of his mother’s house.

Aliquippa police Chief Don Couch said police went to the home Tuesday morning, and Campbell tried to run and jumped a fence, dropping his team backpack. Inside the bag, detectives found 180 grams of crack cocaine and more than $3,000 in cash.

Campbell is denying the charges, according to his lawyer Steve Colafella.

“He says he didn’t do it,” Colafella told WPXI, “He was quite frank about it with the court. He wants his name cleared.”

Campbell was a West DivisionCFL all-star in his first season with the Stamps, starting in all 18 games. He had 71 defensive tackles including a tackle for a loss, one special-teams tackle, three interceptions and nine knockdowns.

The 29-year-old was originally drafted in the seventh round by Tennessee in 2011. He played 44 games over four seasons with the Titans and Jacksonsville Jaguars.
