The Ottawa Redblacks have signed Canadian running back Daniel Adeboboye to a two-year contract extension, tying him to the team through 2027.
The 26-year-old played all 18 regular-season games with the Redblacks in 2025, rushing 70 times for 386 yards, catching 28 passes for 227 yards, and scoring two touchdowns. He was the team’s nominee for Most Outstanding Canadian.
“Daniel is a player that I’ve had the opportunity to coach in the past and I’m excited to have him back in Ottawa for the next two seasons,” said head coach and general manager Ryan Dinwiddie.
“He is a relentless competitor, who helps lead both on and off the field. Daniel brings a physical edge to our run game, contributes on special teams and helps set the standard in the locker room with his work ethic. He’s the kind of player who fits in to what we’re building Ottawa and we’re thrilled to have him as a part of our club for the next two years.”
The native of Mississauga, Ont. was originally a second-round pick of the Toronto Argonauts in the 2022 CFL Draft and spent three seasons with the team, winning two Grey Cups. He was traded to Ottawa last offseason in exchange for a conditional fifth-round pick in the 2026 CFL Draft.
The five-foot-eleven, 215-pound ball-carrier has played 71 career regular-season CFL games, rushing for 989 yards, catching 46 passes for 354 yards, and scoring three touchdowns.
The Ottawa Redblacks finished fourth in the East Division standings in 2025 with a 4-14 record, missing the playoffs for the fifth time in the last six seasons. Dru Brown went 2-7 over nine starts at quarterback, throwing for 2,389 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Dustin Crum went 2-4 over six starts, throwing for 1,771 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions.
The Redblacks ranked sixth in net offence, fifth in net defence, and ninth with a turnover differential of minus-16. The club’s leading rusher was William Stanback with 698 yards, leading receiver was Justin Hardy with 1,019 yards, and leading tackler was Adarius Pickett with 84 tackles. Ottawa finished eighth in attendance with average crowds of 18,136, which was a 4.2 percent decrease from the previous year.
