Riders sign quarterback Kevin Glenn

Veteran quarterback Kevin Glenn has signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The 37-year-old has 16 seasons of CFL experience, Glenn split 2016 between Montreal and Winnipeg. He made nine starts for the Alouettes, completing 70.7 per cent of his passes while throwing for 2,547 yards, 13 touchdowns and 11 interceptions before being traded to the Bombers in September, where he served as a back up to Matt Nichols.

The Bombers released Glenn earlier in January to allow him to pursue possible starting opportunities. The Riders dealt pending free agent Darian Durant to the Alouettes last week and Saskatchewan’s current stable of quarterbacks has limited CFL experience. With Durant signed to an extension in Montreal and Nichols re-upping in Winnipeg, the list of experienced CFL quarterbacks available was exceptionally short.

Glenn began his CFL career in Saskatchewan in 2001 and played three seasons before being traded to Toronto, then Winnipeg. He signed with the Riders before the 2015 season and became the starter after Durant went down with a torn Achilles. In the midst of a 3-15 season, Glenn was dealt to Montreal in October that year.

For his career, Glenn is 94-96-1 as a starter in the regular season.
