Winnipeg Blue Bombers sign two, including Boise State standout Ben Dooley

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed American offensive lineman Ben Dooley and American defensive lineman DeShaan Dixon to the practice roster.

Dooley had a stint with the Los Angeles Rams after going unselected in the 2025 NFL Draft, though he didn’t see any regular-season action with the team.

The six-foot-five, 320-pound native of Fallon, Nev. had a five-year collegiate career at Boise State where he was a three-year starter at tackle and guard. He was named first-team All-Mountain West in 2024 and second-team All-Mountain West in 2021.

Last year, Dooley helped anchor an offensive line that played a key role in setting a new program record with 3,365 rushing yards on the year. He also allowed only one sack on 428 pass‑blocking reps.

Dixon spent three seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars after joining them as an undrafted free agent in 2022, dressing for three regular-season games and making one tackle.

The six-foot-four, 247-pound native of Chesapeake, Va. played collegiately at Norfolk State University, an FCS program located in Norfolk, Va. The 26-year-old recorded 154 total tackles, 24.5 tackles for loss, and 14.5 sacks over 42 games, earning a first-team All-Conference selection in 2021.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers (8-8) will host the Saskatchewan Roughriders (12-4) at Princess Auto Stadium on Friday, October 17 with kickoff slated for 8:00 p.m. EDT. The Riders are coming off a win over Toronto that clinched first place in the West Division, while the Blue Bombers lost to Edmonton, failing to clinch a playoff spot in the process.

The weather forecast in Winnipeg calls for a high of 11 degrees with rainy conditions. The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on 620 CKRM in Regina and 680 CJOB in Winnipeg.
