Redblacks sign local kicker Sean Decloux from neg list

The Redblacks have made their first move since winning the 2016 Grey Cup, signing Canadian kicker Sean Decloux, per CFL sources.

Ottawa added the local product to the team’s exclusive negotiation list back on May 11, the day after he went unselected in the 2016 CFL draft – the 22-year-old was recovering from an injury. During four seasons at the University of Maine, Decloux made 44 of 61 field goals (72.1 per cent.) Decloux also handled kick-offs for the Black Bears.

Canuck Chris Milo, who handled the place-kicking duties for the Redblacks in 2016 until he suffered an injury against Winnipeg on Oct. 29, is under contract through the 2017 season. American Ray Early, who is a pending free agent, stepped in for Milo after the setback and made all eight field goals he tried in the last two regular season games, Eastern Final and Grey Cup.
