Ticats Chad Owens to miss the rest of season due to injury

Hamilton Tiger-Cats receiver Chad Owens will miss the remainder of the 2016 season with a broken foot, according to CFL sources.

The 34-year-old Owens was injured during Hamilton’s 20-17 win over the Montreal Alouettes and had surgery to repair the damage.

Owens was enjoying an excellent season, his first with the Ticats after being signed as a free agent in February. He is currently third on the team with 58 catches for 808 yards and has added five touchdowns.  This is the fourth straight campaign that Owens, who spent seasons with the Toronto Argonauts, has missed multiple games due to injury.

The team is on a bye this week and doesn’t play again until Oct. 14 when the Ottawa Redblacks come to town for a the opening half of a key back-to-back set with a division rival.
