Edmonton Elks sign American DL Ali Fayad: sources

The Edmonton Elks have signed American defensive lineman Ali Fayad, per sources.

The six-foot-two, 250-pound native of Dearborn, Mi. was most recently a member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, recording one tackle and making two starts over three games with the team in 2024. He was released by Winnipeg in July.

In 2023, Fayad signed with the Philadelphia Stars of the USFL and made 13 total tackles and one sack over six games.

The 25-year-old signed his first CFL contract with the Toronto Argonauts in 2022 after a brief stint with the Philadelphia Eagles. He made four tackles and one sack over four games with the team, helping them win the Grey Cup in Regina.

Fayad played collegiately at Western Michigan University where he was named the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Defensive Player of the Year in 2021, recording 40 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and 13 sacks. In total, he made 154 tackles, 51 tackles for loss, 30 sacks, 10 forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries.
