Fans in Vancouver will get a chance to double dip with the city’s two major sports this November.

On Friday, the Vancouver Canucks announced that they had rescheduled their game against the Nashville Predators on November 17, 2024, to avoid overlap with the 111th Grey Cup. The NHL game was originally slated to be played at 5:00 p.m. PST but will now take place at 7:00 p.m. PST.

The Grey Cup is slated to kick off at 3:00 p.m. PST that same day at BC Place and will feature a half-time performance from the Jonas Brothers. The last Grey Cup in Vancouver drew a massive turnout, with 52,056 in the stands to witness the Calgary Stampeders defeat the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2014. Three years earlier, 54,313 people turned out to watch the Lions defeat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at home in the 2011 Grey Cup.

Rogers Arena, the home of the Canucks, is located across the street from BC Place and seats just under 19,000. The rescheduling of the game was made possible through the cooperation of the NHL, the Predators, and Sportsnet, who will broadcast the game on television. The Grey Cup is available for viewing exclusively on Bell Media platforms CTV and TSN — Sportsnet’s direct competitor in Canada.

The Vancouver Canucks will open the 2024-25 season on Wednesday, October 9 at 7:00 p.m. PDT when they host the Calgary Flames.
