CFL rebrands ‘all-stars’ to ‘All-CFL’

The CFL has changed its all-star designations, rebranding them as “All-CFL.”

The switch has also impacted the divisional all-star terminology. Instead of being a “West Division all-star” or “East Divisional all-star,” players will now be “West Division All-CFL” or “East Division All-CFL.”

Each year, 27 players are named divisional all-stars — 12 on offence, 12 on defence, and three on special teams. Those rosters are then used to make the CFL all-star list, which purports to recognize the best players at each position league-wide.

The selections are made through voting from the Football Reporters of Canada, the head coaches of the league’s nine teams, and fans.

The voting process remains unchanged, though those selected will no longer be “all-stars.” Instead, they will be “All-CFL.”
