The Montreal Alouettes have signed star receiver Austin Mack to a contract extension through 2028. He was set to become a free agent following this season.

The six-foot-two, 215-pound target recently rejoined the Alouettes following his release from the Atlanta Falcons. He made three catches for 32 yards in Montreal’s recent win over the Edmonton Elks, his first game back in the CFL this season.

The 26-year-old recorded 78 receptions for 1,154 yards and four touchdowns with the Alouettes in 2023. He was a key part of the team’s championship run, making 13 catches for 185 yards and two touchdowns in the playoffs, including a 104-yard performance in the Grey Cup against Winnipeg.

“Austin is an important part of this team and we just proved it with this agreement,” said general manager Danny Maciocia in a statement. “This receiver has shown great chemistry on the field both with our quarterbacks and his other teammates. We are very excited that he will be an Alouette for many years.”

The native of Fort Wayne, Ind. went unselected in the 2020 NFL Draft coming out of Ohio State University but signed with the New York Giants shortly thereafter. He played 11 games with the team as a rookie and made seven catches for 91 yards.

The Montreal Alouettes currently sit atop the East Division standings with a record of 10-1 and are on a bye in Week 12.
