Calgary Stampeders release veteran OL Trevon Tate

The Calgary Stampeders have released American offensive lineman Trevon Tate.

The 28-year-old native of Channelview, Tenn. signed with the Stampeders this past off-season and started two past two games at right tackle.

The University of Memphis product signed with the Toronto Argonauts in 2021, though he played with the Ottawa Redblacks as a COVID-19 emergency relief player. After reverting to the Double Blue, he started 18 games for the team over three seasons.

The six-foot-four, 295-pound blocker signed with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted NFL free agent in 2019 but was released that same month, immediately heading to the CFL with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats where he dressed for one game. In four CFL seasons, he has appeared in 23 contests, starting all of them.

The Calgary Stampeders (4-5) will host the Ottawa Redblacks (5-2-1) on Thursday, Aug. 15 with kickoff slated for 9:00 p.m. EDT.
