The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed fullback Albert Awachie following his release from the Toronto Argonauts on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old native of Toronto, Ont. played seven games with the Argos this season, making one catch for five yards. He joined the team as a free agent in February.

The six-foot-three, 262-pounder started his CFL career with the Saskatchewan in 2017 as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Toronto. He made 10 catches for 74 yards and 15 special teams tackles over 67 games with the team.

Awachie won’t have much time to re-adjust to life in green and white, as he will join the Riders (5-3) in Ottawa on Thursday and is expected to suit up against the Redblacks (5-2). Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EDT.
