Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Ticats release DB Geoff Tisdale after blowout loss to B.C.

Veteran defensive back Geoff Tisdale was released by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Sunday, two days after struggling in the Ticats 28-3 loss to the B.C. Lions.

The 30-year-old Tisdale was victimized repeatedly in the loss and also took a pair of unnecessary roughness penalties as Hamilton fell to 1-1 on the season.

It’s an inglorious end to Tisdale’s third stint with the club. He started his CFL career with the Ticats in 2008, then left for a big-money free agent deal in Calgary after the 2010 season. He returned to Hamilton in 2012, then spent two seasons in Montreal before playing three games with Saskatchewan last year. He has 117 career starts.
