Edmonton Elks sign defensive back JJ Ross

The Edmonton Elks have signed American defensive back JJ Ross to the practice roster.

The 23-year-old native of Cincinnati, Ohio spent the past three seasons at Western Illinois University where he made 113 total tackles, three interceptions, 18 pass knockdowns, and one forced fumble over 30 games with the Leathernecks. He was named second-team All-MVFC by Phil Steele in 2023 and participated in rookie minicamp with the Detroit Lions.

The six-foot-three, 195-pound defender spent his first two collegiate seasons at Eastern Illinois University where he recorded 42 total tackles, four interceptions, and 11 pass knockdowns in 18 games for the Panthers.

The Edmonton Elks (0-7) will visit the Saskatchewan Roughriders (5-2) on Saturday, Aug. 3 with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. EDT.
