Hamilton Tiger-Cats release DB Dexter Lawson Jr., one other

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have released American defensive back Dexter Lawson Jr.

The five-foot-ten, 190-pound defender made four starts at field-side cornerback this season recording 16 defensive tackles and one special teams tackle. He was moved to the practice roster this past week when the Tiger-Cats defeated the Toronto Argonauts to earn their first win of the season.

The 24-year-old native of Bloomfield, Conn. dressed for nine games with Hamilton in 2023, making six starts. He made 29 defensive tackles, one special teams tackle, and one interception as a rookie.

The Tiger-Cats have also released American defensive lineman Kelle Sanders, who dressed for the club’s season-opener against Calgary before being moved to the practice roster.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats (1-5) will visit the Edmonton Elks (0-6) on Sunday, July 28 with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. EDT.
