The CFL’s television numbers bounced back in Week 4 despite the Saskatchewan Roughriders being on a bye.
Thursday’s late-night kickoff between the Edmonton Elks and B.C. Lions, which was arguably the best game of the week, drew 349,700 average viewers, including 92,600 in the key 25-54 age demographic, likely due to its 10:00 p.m. ET start time. The Toronto Blue Jays had 645,300 viewers the same evening in a 9-2 victory over the New York Yankees.
Friday Night Football produced 274,900 English-language viewers as the Montreal Alouettes improved to 4-0 with a decisive win over the Toronto Argonauts. That game went up against the 2024 NHL Draft with 499,000 tuned in, though the Als brought in a strong French-language rating with 207,100 on RDS. The Blue Jays had 449,400 viewers as Toronto was crushed 16-5 by the Yankees.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Calgary Stampeders had an audience of 510,700 on Saturday, including 163,800 in the younger age demographic. The game saw substantial competition as Canada’s men’s national soccer team match against Chile, which ended in a 0-0 draw, posted nearly 1.4 million viewers. Between 750,000 and 800,000 tuned in for Germany and Italy euro matches that same day, while 669,300 watched the Blue Jays’ 9-3 win against New York.
Finally, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Ottawa Redblacks had the highest rating in Week 4 with 722,700 watching on as the home side completed a last-minute comeback to knock off the Tabbies for the first time since 2018. The viewership included 247,300 in the younger demographic, while just over 1 million Canadians watched the England and Spain euro matches and the Blue Jays pulled in 455,400 viewers during an 8-1 loss to the Yankees.
