The B.C. Lions have signed American defensive lineman Demetrius Taylor.

The six-foot-one, 295-pound native of Miami, Fla. signed with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent in 2022 and spent most of the year on their practice roster. He dressed for one regular season game with the team but didn’t register any statistics and was released in May 2023.

In June 2023, Taylor was suspended indefinitely by the NFL for betting on games during his rookie year. He remained a free agent for the duration of the season and was reinstated by the league last month, though he still went unsigned.

The Lions will play their second and final preseason game on Friday, May 31 when they host the Edmonton Elks.
